THE CHEVY SILVERADO IS APPARENTLY TORNADO PROOF

It’s time to bring back “Like a Rock.” Because, like big rocks, the Chevrolet Silverado can claim itself as tougher than a tornado. A viral video of a red Silverado flipping on its side then back on its wheels also managed to continue driving on. It left the driver, a 16-year old teenager, with a few scratches, some soreness, and a wild story to tell.

What appears to be a GMT800 Chevrolet Silverado stood its own against the rigors of what the National Weather Service says was an EF-2 rated Tornado (capable of 130 mph winds). It managed to wreak havoc over a 14-mile stretch and its path went through Elgin Texas, a town positioned just 40-minutes outside of Austin, on March 21st.

The video was originally posted by a storm chaser, Brian Emfinger on Twitter and has caught the attention of many around the globe. The Twitter video, only 30-seconds long, has an extended cut on YouTube as well exploiting the aftermath of the tornadoes reign via drone. A local news station, KXAN, shared photos of the truck bruised and battered with scratches and busted glass throughout. KUVE, A news station out of Austin reports the teenager purchased the truck from his father and that the truck itself was in the family for a decade. No word on what will happen next, the truck is currently sitting roadside awaiting its fate. The teenager who was coming home from an interview at Whataburger, a fast-food restaurant, told KUVE that he did indeed get the job.
