BARRETT-JACKSON PALM BEACH WAS BIGGER THAN EXPECTED

The 2022 Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auction at the South Florida Fairgrounds is in the books. The results have been record breaking for the venue, some of which include aid to those most in need overseas in Ukraine. A combined total of $5.56 million was raised by seven different vehicles for charities alone. And the big takers were several Corvettes and Ford GT supercars.

Governor of Florida Ron DeSantis was in attendance and auctioned off two charity vehicles in an effort to help Ukraine in its time of need. Offered up by DeSantis were a 1986 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible Indy Pace Car and a 2009 Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake, both of which were previous museum vehicles. The vehicles sold as a pair for a cool $1,000,000, plus combined donations of $760,000 for a grand total of $1.76 million raised for relief efforts in Ukraine through the Franklin Graham’s Samaritan’s Purse. To date, Barrett-Jackson has helped raise almost $150 million ($147.9) for charity around the world. One of the big players in all of this was none other than Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports. Hendrick purchased both vehicles offered up by DeSantis as well as the first production 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 convertible that was offered up to help benefit the Thurgood Marshall College Fund.

Scottsdale, Arizona is generally the hottest of all the auctions (no pun intended) but so far Palm Beach has proved just as stout. Over the weekend, 676 vehicles were sold (with no reserve) as well as 412 pieces of automobilia that catapulted total auction sales past the $60 million mark. There are two more Barrett-Jackson Auto Auctions left pending any last minute add-ons to the schedule. Las Vegas is next on the block and the company is currently taking consignments for the event happening June 30th to July 2nd at the Las Vegas Convention Center. After that, the final auction takes place in Houston at the NRG Center in October.
