Ukraine’s ongoing resistance from Russian invaders that in February of this year continues to rage on. And countless humanitarian organizations and companies across the globe have done what they can to help those in need. This even includes a couple of American auto manufacturers, Ford and GM who have offered up 50 Ford Rangers and Chevy Tahoe SUVs to help humanitarian relief efforts in the war torn country.
The onset of the Russian invasion into Ukraine brings worry to the world of auto manufacturers, and rightfully so. There are various materials needed to produce semiconductor chips that are almost exclusively found in both countries involved in conflict. That being the case Ford CEO Jim Farley shared via Twitter recently that the company was supplying Ukraine with 50 Ford Rangers and that Ukraine has received them all and are being put to use, no word on their actual purpose has been revealed though. This news comes weeks after Ford made the decision to suspend business in Russia and make a six-figure donation to help those that have been displaced by the invasion, per the Detroit Free Press.

Shortly after the invasion, Ukraine government officials reached out to GM requesting big vehicles to transport citizens out of war zones. The automaker, without much hesitation was all in and has since delivered 50 full-size Chevy Tahoe utility vehicles. These SUVs were not designated for the American marketplace, according to the report, and were delivered through a Polish military logistics hub near the Ukraine border. They were sent specifically to the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure for humanitarian aid. Both manufacturers also utilized the help of shipping company Maersk to deliver the vehicles. In addition to full size SUV’s GM also offered up six figure donations as well making matching donations of up to $50,000 from company employees to select non-profits to help those in need.
