PEOPLE REALLY LIKE RED CORVETTES, ACCORDING TO 2022 MODEL YEAR SALES DATA

With the 2023 model year Corvette nearing production, the final tally for the 2022 Corvette Stingray is coming in. In doing so, we’re able to look beyond just the sales numbers, and into various customer preferences such as which colors were most popular, how many people opted for the convertible, how many went for a manual transmission, and the mix of various trim levels. The data comes fresh from the annual NCM Bash that took place in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Corvette Product Manager Harlan Charles shared a couple of metrics that revealed the top choices of color in Exterior, and Interior, as well as totals for paint and trim combinations. The top three color choices for the 2022 Corvette Stingray were Torch Red, Arctic White, and Hypersonic Gray. Torch Red and Artic White accounted for 16 and 14 percent of all colors sold, respectively, while Hypersonic Gray and Red Mist came in at 13 percent (though technically, the gray outsold this shade of red by just 17 units).

Corvette Blogger reports that the top “core colors” (Red, White, and Black) also did very well. Black accounted for 11% of orders, good enough for fifth place right behind Red Mist.

As far as interior color choices go, Jet Black took the top spot while Adrenaline Red was a close second accounting for 29% and 26% respectively. The majority of seat belt colors chosen were Jet Black but 15% of orders requested Adrenaline Red with Yellow and Blue coming in right behind at 9 and 6 percent respectively.

Further data showed the color combinations of the paint and trim and how many of each were sold. There were a couple of quirky combos that made the list, Amplify Orange with Morello Red interior and Elkhart Blue with Morello Red interior were both one-offs. The most common of the combinations were Artic White with Adrenaline Red interior with 1,817 units sold. The battle for second was close between Torch Red with Adrenaline Red interior and Torch Red with Jet Black interior both selling 1,654 and 1,649 respectively.
