The Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG 004 is ready to be delivered to customers after completing a hard-fought Nurburgring 24 Hours race last week. Production of the American-made SCG 004CS, 004S, and 004C supercars have been a long time coming, five years have passed since it was first unveiled, and since then it’s been through the wringer of development, and crash testing for global homologation.
Speaking with Road & Track, James Glickenhaus spoke about the hotly anticipated sports car. First designed as a GT3 race car, the SCG 004 was adapted to be able to drive on the street. Three levels will be available, starting at $483,000 USD, which get progressively more track-oriented and more powerful with the more you spend.

For the street, there’s the 004S, the only one available with a six-speed manual transmission attached to its 650 horsepower supercharged GM 6.2-liter LT4 V8. Sitting in the middle is the 004SC, which has the same engine but bumped up to 750 horsepower, and is available with a faster-shifting automatic transmission.
Finally, the 004C is built specifically for competition and features the same engine without the supercharger for a power output of 520 for endurance racing, but that number can be upped to 600 horsepower if the sanctioning body allows.
As for the actual race car prepared by Italy’s Podium Advanced Technologies, it finished 12th overall at the Nurburgring 24-hour race, after a few software bugs and even a crash. The vehicle was just one lap down from the race winner, which was an Audi Sport Team Phoenix R8 LMS GT3 Evo.
The vehicles will all be hand-built at the brand’s Danbury, Connecticut factory, and by the end of the year, SCG plans to have 25 cars in customer’s possession.
