FORD MUSTANG BLACK APPEARANCE PACKAGE NAMING CONTEST ENDS TODAY

Just last week, Ford invited fans to submit their best name ideas of a 2023 Mustang Black Accent Package that’s debuting soon. And it seems like the marketing team would like to get a move on with things, as suggestions will be closed off after today. So, if you want to take a crack at naming the next Mustang package, this is it. All Ford asks is that you don’t suggest any swearwords, or anything that’s otherwise culturally taboo.

Some of the best names that were suggested by you readers included “Onyx” and “Marauder.” The former representing a dark gemstone, while the latter throws it back to a Mercury muscle car from the 1990s that was based on the iconic Ford Panther Platform. You otherwise know it as the Ford Crown Victoria.

The S550 Ford Mustang generation is in its twilight, but that hasn’t stopped new packages from debuting. Just last year, Ford pulled the sheet off of six, yes six, different S550 Mustang variants. We had the Mustang GT500 Heritage Edition, The Mustang Ice White Edition, the Mustang GT/CS the Coastal Limited Edition, and the Mustang Stealth Edition. And even as the S650 Mustang is expected to debut as soon as next spring, Ford isn’t done with the outgoing model yet. That’s sure to make the 2023 model year for the iconic muscle car a special one, as memory escapes the last time the Mustang had this many packages, special editions, and different trim levels all in one model year.
