FORD F-150 RAPTOR R TEASES ITS SUPERCHARGED V8 ENGINE, TRANSMISSION INFO LEAKS

We’ve been getting many leaks regarding the Ford F-150 Raptor R lately, and with spy photos emerging, there’s just enough information going around to raise the hype. But there’s still very little we know about the upcoming super truck from Ford. There is some new footage of the Raptor R, and it looks ready to take the crown from the Ram TRX.

Ford took a prototype of the F-150 Raptor R to the Johnson Valley OHV area of the California desert, where people were testing out the Bronco Raptor. As seen in the video, from Autoblog, the driver opened up the throttle and began doing donuts in the sand, kicking up dust and letting the desert hear the roar of the V8 engine under the hood.

It’s a poorly kept secret at this point that the engine Ford has decided to put in the Raptor R is a version of the supercharged 5.2L V8 engine found int the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, which makes 760 horsepower in that application.

Ford F-150 Raptor R: Transmission Leak

As for the transmission, previous speculations have pointed towards the truck using the same transmission found in the Shelby, the 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. That’s due to the quick shifts the Raptor R can make. However, another recent leak from TheRaptorConnection on Instagram points at a P702 Transmission which features a new torque converter, turbine dampener, and better 10R80. The transmission is still a 10-speed, but the upgrades are what give the Raptor R faster shifting. Even faster than the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. Those who have been following the industry for a while may recall that rivals General Motors and Ford Motor Company teamed up to co-develop both 9-speed and 10-speed transmissions for FWD-based and RWD-based vehicles, respectively.

In addition to the leak regarding the transmission, we can also see that the 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R could be getting two new colors, including Azure Gray Tri-Coat and Avalanche. One thing is sure; the Raptor R will be an awesome truck.
