THIEVES MAKE OFF WITH $1 MILLION WORTH OF FORD F-150 RAPTORS, GT500 MUSTANGS

Ford manufacturing plants have seen some considerable activity the past few days, and not the productive kind. Two heists took place this week, the first resulting in at least four S550 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 muscle cars getting stolen from the Flat Rock Assembly plant early Thursday morning. The second resulted in $1 million worth of Ford F-150 Raptors stolen from Rouge Assembly Complex grounds in Dearborn, Michigan.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 And F-150 Raptor: Heist Details

According to Mlive, Flat Rock Police notified the Detroit Regional Communications Center at around 3:20 AM that four or five Ford Mustang Shelby GT500s had been stolen from the Flat Rock Assembly Plant. Woodhaven police officers had seen the suspects attempting to put gas in the vehicles but they fled when they saw the officers. Though the officers didn’t pursue, they made a significant difference in the heist.

Michigan Police Troopers attempted a traffic stop but the drivers fled. They decided to single out one of the Mustangs and pursued it until it ran out of gas heading westbound on I-96 near MLK Blvd in Detroit. The suspect drove the vehicle onto a grass embankment and was then taken into custody. Two more Ford Mustang GT500 coupes were recovered and believed to have also ran out of gas. There are still one or two more Mustangs missing from the plant.

A second heist has resulted in the report that several 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor pickup trucks have been stolen right off of the Rouge Manufacturing Complex staging lot, the total worth of the stolen vehicles is approximately $1 million USD. Dearborn police have managed to recover 13 vehicles in the last week within the Detroit and Dearborn area. The recovered vehicles appear to have signs of damage with some things stripped away from the vehicles, likely to be sold on the dark market. So far, one person has been arrested and the investigation is still underway.
