MORE DETAILS SURFACE ON THE UPCOMING RAM REBEL HD

Spy photos continue to emerge, suggesting that Stellantis is conjuring up what appears to be a Ram 2500 Rebel. This is an exciting time for Heavy Duty truck lovers, and we mostly just have information obtained from the images. However, a new report has recently received more information from an anonymous source with an equipment listing for what could be a pre-production 2023 Ram 2500 Rebel.

2023 Ram HD Rebel: New Details

Based on the list, the Rebel package will likely be available with either the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 or the 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel, according to Mopar Insiders. The Power Wagon, which will be one trim above the Rebel, will carry a GVWR of 8,565 pounds; the Rebel is listed at 10,000 lbs GVWR. That will allow for higher payload ratings which could influence what trim some people purchase. The listing also gives mention of the new Sports Performance Hood, which is a new addition to the Heavy Duty lineup, and explains why there are so many prototypes out and about with the hood camouflaged.

The 6.7-liter Cummins Diesel engine is paired with the 68RFE 6-speed automatic transmission, which means it’s a standard output, Cummins Turbo Diesel. The list also mentions unique Rebel badging for the Ram HD, Rebel suspension, rear auto-leveling air suspension, and new power telescoping side view mirrors. Also listed is the new 12-inch digital instrument cluster that has been seen in a 2023 Ram 1500.

The Ram HD Rebel also appears to be getting an electronic rear locking differential. Meanwhile, the front differential is listed as a conventional front diff, so it likely won’t have the electronic locker. However, the Power Wagons do have an electronic front locker. The other trade-off between the two is that the Rebel package will be better in the towing and payload department. Additionally, the list doesn’t mention a winch or an electronic front sway bar disconnect.
