It might be a little early for ski season, but that won’t stop these thieves from wearing their ski masks in the summer for yet another heist. Police received reports of multiple Ford F-150 Raptors being stolen on Wednesday, July 27th, at around 9 p.m. local time. Michigan State Police were tipped off that the trucks were traveling north and being driven by individuals wearing ski masks.

Police immediately called in a helicopter to help them in their search. The department’s footage shows the helicopter using night vision to track one of the vehicles. Police on the ground chased another Raptor to Detroit, where the driver eventually abandoned the truck and fled near a home. Police made their way to the house where the driver got rid of the truck.
Interestingly, the driver decided it would be a good idea to hang around the house. The police then spotted a car leaving the house; the driver still had their ski mask on. Authorities later searched the home and found three more of the alleged suspects along with three vehicles that had been reported stolen, keys to more stolen cars, and a gun. One of the recovered vehicles was a stolen GT500 taken from Ford’s Flat Rock assembly plant at the end of 2021.
The investigation is still ongoing, and authorities haven’t said whether or not they recovered the other Raptor, though this is something they’ve been dealing with for quite some time. Thefts from Ford plants and lots have been going on for months. First, four Mustang Shelby GT500s were stolen from the Flat Rock plant in December 2021, and a million dollars worth of F-150 Raptors were stolen from the Dearborn truck plant in June. Then, a week later, six brand new Mustangs were stolen… again. Ford needs to upgrade its plant security, so this can stop happening.
