Dodge is turning the page to a new chapter with a revolutionary electric vehicle. One that aims to appeal to the high-octane muscle car crowd, and less so to the politically correct finger wagging types that shun anybody for daring to pursue performance driving. It’s officially called the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee Concept. And, like the famous Charger Daytona model that was the first vehicle to break 200 mph on a NASCAR track in 1970, the Charger Daytona Concept packs a performance punch. Dodge Charger Daytona Banshee Concept: Powertrain Details
Dodge’s new Banshee propulsion system joins high-horsepower household names such as Hemi, Hellcat, and Redeye. In addition, there’s a new pinnacle of performance in the Brotherhood of Muscle: Banshee. The 800V Banshee powertrain in this Dodge Charger Daytona EV concept car and screams performance, making Dodge’s first electric vehicle faster than a Hellcat in all key performance measures. Though, exact numbers have not yet been revealed, but rumors are that the Tesla Model S Plaid is the target. After all, this is a concept vehicle, so we’ll have to wait a bit before we find out how the Banshee overtakes the Hellcat.

The Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee Concept features a standard all-wheel-drive system which is key to pushing beyond Hellcat performance while improving all-weather capability. That means people that live in colder regions can still enjoy their electric muscle car, even in the snow. But with AWD, there’s more traction to propel the vehicle forward.
Dodge has also developed a new transmission for the Banshee, the eRupt Transmission. Unlike typical BEVs, the Dodge brand’s eRupt multi-speed transmission with electro-mechanical shifting delivers distinctive shift points, throwing shoulders into seatbacks in true Dodge style. In addition, the Charger Daytona SRT Concept also boasts a PowerShot push-to-pass feature which can be activated by pushing a button on the steering wheel. The feature delivers an adrenaline jolt of increased horsepower for a quick burst of acceleration. Essentially, a Nitro boost for an electric vehicle.
