California-based Czinger Vehicles is a company that is known for having a futuristic approach to engineering as they enlist the help of artificial intelligence. Though the brand is young, Czinger has decided not to rest on the success of its incredible 21C, which has set a lap record around the legendary Laguna Seca raceway. During Monterey Car Week that took place at the same time as Speed Week, the family-owned hypercar company of the same name decided to improve the car with the recently debuted 21C VMAX.
Czinger 21C VMAX: Details
The exciting new model was revealed at The Quail, revealing that the VMAX is an even faster version of the brand’s already-incredible 21C hypercar. Here are some crazy numbers: the Czinger 21C VMax can accelerate from 0-60 in just 1.88 seconds and has a quarter-mile time of 8.1 seconds. Meaning it’ll reach the finish line in a drag race before you can register what just went past you. After that, drivers can look forward to obtaining a top speed of 253 mph if they can find a stretch of road that’ll enable them to go that fast. To achieve this, the Czinger 21C VMAX ditches the massive wing that the “base” car has, and elongates the rear bodywork a bit to allow for an improved slipstream – paramount for achieving maximum speed in a straight line.
It’s no SSC Tuatara when it comes to outright speed, but the formula is approached much differently. Rather than using a fire-breathing, large-displacement Nelson Racing Engines V8 that does all of the work, the Czinger 21C is a hybrid, utilizing a screaming 2.88L twin-turbo V8 and a battery pack to deliver an astonishing 1,250 hp.
Czinger Vehicles has decided to limit production to just 80 examples of the 21C VMAX, which start around $2 million USD. But, if you can’t obtain the car, you can befriend someone that has, and with a passenger seat, you too can experience the thrill the vehicle can give. But, this isn’t just any two-seater. The Czinger 21C puts the passenger’s seat directly behind the driver’s seat, meaning that even with the added company, the aerodynamics and performance of the car will remain uncompromised.
While we’re all about Woodward rowdiness, Czinger’s engineering and innovation is a big part of what makes events like The Quail and Monterey Car Week special. It would be interesting to see this thing go against another hypercar in a drag race, and we hope someone somewhere decides to do just that with the times Czinger has announced the 21C VMAX is capable of achieving.
