3 Tips for Cooling Your Warehouse in Hot Weather

Many characteristics of a warehouse make it challenging to cool these structures during hot weather. High vertical space, expansive floorspace, and doors that frequently open to the outside cause challenges. Make your industrial space more comfortable with these three tips for cooling your warehouse in hot weather.

1. Maintain HVAC and Portable AC Systems

Whether your warehouse uses an HVAC or many portable ACs, maintain your equipment to ensure it runs efficiently. Follow your equipment manufacturer’s instructions for keeping the system clean, such as washing individual components or replacing filters.

Routine maintenance will help you identify when you need to replace a part. For example, if you need to reduce the liquid water in your system, you might need a water separator to remove water from compressed air lines.

2. Focus Cold Air With Zoning

The next tip for cooling your warehouse in hot weather is to use zoning to focus cold air. Organizing your warehouse into logical zones improves your cooling efficiency and can improve your productivity, too.

Most of the warehouse floor stores inventory that doesn’t require temperature control. Focus your cooling efforts on spaces where employees spend the most time to ensure they are in a comfortable environment. Minimize foot traffic between zones and maximize the time employees spend in areas with optimized cooling.

3. Improve Insulation

You can improve insulation throughout the warehouse in many ways, including installing a cool roof, insulating the ceiling and outer walls, and hanging industrial vinyl strip curtains. A cool roof reflects more sunlight than a traditional roof, releasing rather than absorbing heat.

Insulating the ceiling and outer walls will help prevent hot air from seeping into the building and cool air from seeping out. And finally, while your facility requires open doorways, you can help keep the hot air outside with industrial vinyl strip curtains.
