Here are all the safe starting maps in Project Zomboid

The default world map in Project Zomboid is expansive, allowing players to explore the zombie apocalypse in a real-life setting.

Project Zomboid is a hardcore RPG survival game. Unlike other zombie games, this one incorporates different locations into one large map. Most of the space in between towns is either empty or dull, but it’s all part of a realistic experience. Players must travel, complete missions, and do everyday tasks to get to safe spots.

Surviving in Project Zomboid isn’t easy, considering the massive world that is open for all. Starting on the right map in Project Zomboid can help you safely spend the first few weeks.

What is the safest map and starting location in Project Zomboid?

The safest Project Zomboid map to start on is Rosewood.

The game’s massive world set in the mid-90s Kentucky is divided into different cities and areas. Some locations are less infested than others, and these are the spots you want to kick start your journey in order to survive in the apocalyptic zombie world. These are four default starting maps in Project Zomboid, and all of them are relatively safe.

  • Muldraugh
  • Riverside
  • Rosewood
  • West Point

The best way to deal with the blood-thirsty zombies is by avoiding them until you’ve learned advanced survival skills. Rosewood is a less-populated area with plenty of shelters, which ultimately means a low zombie count. While it’s a relatively secure location, it also comes with loot suitable for the environment. Loot in Rosewood is decent but nothing to write home about. Still, it’s enough to tackle the few zombies you may encounter on your journey.

Besides cut-rate loot, Rosewood also has a few other flaws. Green players may want to keep away fromthe zombie-infested prison to the northwest of Rosewood. As long as that area is avoided, things should be manageable.

Is Muldraugh a safe map in Project Zomboid?

Muldraugh is an unsafe map that offers strong loot. It’s a classic high-risk, high-reward play.

If you’ve dabbled in zombie games, go ahead and spawn in Muldraugh, as it packs tons of loot, danger, and zombies. It’s still better than the other two defaults, as it has fewer zombies.

Muldraugh was one of the first of the Project Zomboid maps. It’s an attractive spawn location due to the Cortman Medical in the south of the town, where players can collect crucial medical supplies. It’s an abandoned area, which means there are plenty of dwelling options. However, this small town in Kentucky has enough zombies to make loot hunting a thrill.
