Ford Motor Company this morning confirmed to MC&T that there are over 1,000 registrants for The Stampede event and counting. Exclusive to Ford Mustang owners, enthusiasts and media, The Stampede is the finale of The Drive Home; a massive cross-country road trip that starts in Tacoma, Washington, and finishes on September 14 with a quick jaunt from Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn to Hart Plaza in Detroit, where the 2024 S650 Mustang will debut. The Stampede represents the last leg of the drive.
Ford has also confirmed that there is no cap for The Stampede, and registration will remain open through September 14th, meaning that enthusiasts looking to drive to the S650 Mustang reveal will continue to grow in number. For the fans that won’t be able to make it to The Stampede, the event will be broadcast live on social channels, including the Ford YouTube and the Ford Mustang Facebook page.
The S650 Ford Mustang will be the seventh-generation of the iconic American pony car, which also holds the title as the world’s best selling sports car. To say that a new Ford Mustang reveal is a significant moment is an understatement.
The S650 Ford Mustang, which will debut as a 2024 model year vehicle, will feature a new exterior and interior design, coupled a few technology and engineering surprises. Otherwise, it’s going to be very similar to today’s S550 Mustang, as both the expected all-wheel-drive and hybrid variants of the future muscle car have been canceled. This means both the 2.3L EcoBoost and 5.0L Coyote V8 engines are expected to return, as well as both manual and automatic transmissions. As regulations push V8 passenger cars out of political favor, the S650 Mustang will hold strong as the last eight-cylinder muscle car standing. Meanwhile the competition is going electric (Dodge Charger EV Banshee), or phasing out their entries in the segment entirely (Chevrolet Camaro).
