“I was so addicted” PewDiePie talks why he didn’t quit YouTube

Iconic YouTuber Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg has apparently been retired for two years but he still posts to his YouTube channel, which has left some fans confused about the state of his career.

PewDiePie is a legend in the YouTuber world for being the first single-user channel to reach over 111 million subscribers. After finding so much success as a YouTuber, PewDiePie has gone on to move to Japan with his wife, get into literature, and frequently hits the gym.

Despite having “retired,” PewDiePie is still on YouTube dropping videos. PewDiePie recently explained why he’s still doing the content creation grind.

PewDiePie explains why he’s still uploading YouTube even though he’s retired

On September 14, PewDiePie uploaded a video about being a long-time Youtuber. He explained that, yes, he had retired but that doesn’t mean he wanted to leave YouTube altogether.

When he started YouTubing, PewDiePie was living in Sweden, feeling “stuck” at his current job. He was “hoping, praying” that he would be able to do something with YouTube, even though it wasn’t even a career option back in those days, he said.

Now, PewDiePie feels freer than ever. So why is he still on YouTube?

“What I meant was that I just want to do YouTube the way I did it when I started, which is for fun,” PewDiePie explained. “I didn’t do it to become this big channel. So instead, I try to just focus on what’s fun about YouTube.”

PewDiePie said he would never fully “quit” uploading YouTube because it’s his “dream” and he enjoys sharing things with his fans. Ever since retiring from the “grind” and leaving controversy behind, PewDiePie said that he’s been having a lot of fun on the platform again. He currently enjoys sharing vlogs about his life in Japan with Marzia.

Some people still “beg” PewDiePie to quit YouTube, however, wondering what else he can even accomplish or do on the platform. Most people, have been very supportive over the past 10 years, making it tough for PewDiePie to leave it behind.

At this point, however, he admitted he has no desire to keep growing the channel. He doesn’t care about the number of views and subscribers anymore, making him wonder what the point of “pushing” it is at this point in his life.

“I look back on everything we’ve done and I’m super proud of it and it’s amazing. But I’m ready for new experiences and different things,” PewDiePie said.
