Take A Look At Trump's $475 Million Defamation Lawsuit Against CNN

Trump has had an idea to sue CNN for some time now. In August this year, he wrote to his “best and most dedicated” supporters to add their names to support his “impending LAWSUIT against Fake News CNN.

Flash forward to October 2022, Trump has kept his promise to sue media organization over news coverage.

“The time has finally come to hold CNN responsible and legally accountable for their willful deception and defamatory statements made about me and both, directly and indirectly, my strong, devoted, and patriotic supporters — people who love the United States of America, but have been treated very unfairly, at so many levels,” said Trump.

In the 29-page complaint filed today in a federal court in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Trump’s legal team claims, “CNN has tried to taint the Plaintiff with a series of ever-more scandalous, false, and defamatory labels of ‘racist,’ ‘Russian lackey,’ ‘insurrectionist,’ and ultimately ‘Hitler'”

Trump is suing CNN for “claiming credit for “[getting] Trump out” in the 2020 presidential election,” among other things listed in a legal document.

Trump’s hate-love relationship with CNN from the early days of his political career did not leave the former president happy, as he claims CNN made a “concerted effort to tilt the political balance to the Left.”

Trump is seeking $475 million in damages over “embarrassment, pain, humiliation and mental anguish” he claims to have experienced.

Trump promised in a statement on Monday to file more lawsuits against a “large number” of other media networks.

“In the coming weeks and months we will also be filing lawsuits against a large number of other fake news media companies for their lies, defamation, and wrongdoing, including as it pertains to “The Big Lie,” that they used so often in reference to their disinformation attack on presidential election of 2020,’ he said in an emailed statement,” said Trump.
