The Tesla Cybertruck has endured a rocky road ever since its first public unveiling in 2019. From the broken window incident that was supposed to serve as an easy selling point, to the consistent delays in overall production, the program has so far been over-promised and under-delivered. Many started to wonder if it was ever going to be built at all. Yet its disruptive nature had automakers like GM and Ford Motor Company fast tracking their electric truck endeavors, ultimately beating the Cybertruck to market by a few years, while upstart Rivian started selling an electric truck before anybody. That said, Tesla (and Twitter) CEO Elon Musk insists that the truck would be built, no matter what. And there’s new insight regarding when we might actually see the Cybertruck roll off a factory floor. All signs indicate the Cybertruck will officially enter production at the end of 2023.
Per a few Reuters insiders, Tesla is aiming for late 2023 to begin production. Tesla said earlier this year that the truck would enter production by the middle of 2023, so this is yet another delay. Adding more cause for concern is the fact that Tesla has yet to unveil any finalized pricing information and has yet to unleash any kind of configurator.

The Cybertruck, which is to be built at a brand new, and quite expensive, Tesla factory in Austin Texas was originally planned to beat both the Rivian R1T and the Ford F-150 Lightning to the market. Musk points at component shortages and supply chain issues as the main culprits of the slow down and myriad of delays. Be that as it may, Elon Musk explained in a recent quarterly earnings call that they were in the “final lap” with regard to the Cybertruck.
In addition to this, Unplugged Performance has inadvertently shared some new design changes on the Cybertruck suspected to be part of the final design. The changes are subtle yet apparent. A single windshield wiper instead of two, and refreshed exterior mirrors were two of the biggest differences found in the photos that were supposed to highlight the company’s wheels. Time will only tell if the Cybertruck will ever see the light of day. If you’re tired of waiting, the company has begun giving customers refunds.
