Another video has been posted on the Ford Performance YouTube channel featuring Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon and Ford Motor Company CEO Jim Farley. Only this time, the video features a S650 Ford Mustang Dark Horse Supercar positioned on the M1 Concourse racetrack and ready for the two to take it for a few laps around the track with Farley behind the wheel.
We start with Jimmy Fallon getting his own Ford Performance race suit, which Farley says is his to wear for the future times they go onto a track, implying this won’t be the last. Once the two are suited up, they take off. We’ll let you watch the video for yourselves, but it’ll be surprising to see Jimmy Fallon get in another race car with how terrified he looks in the video. Somehow, he even managed to break his sunglasses.
Ford Mustang Dark Horse Australian Supercar: Details
About two months ago, Ford unveiled the S650 Ford Mustang Dark Horse Supercar, which will be their weapon of choice for the 2023 Gen3 racing year in Australia. The race car on display for the unveiling is wrapped in a white livery with Dick Johnson’s surname and his famous #17. The Mustang shown is just the first of many that will compete within the GT3, GT4, NASCAR, and NHRA competitions. The car featured in the three-minute video with Jim Farley and Jimmy Fallon could be one of these vehicles, as the steering wheel is located on the right instead of the left.
The first race where we’ll see the new Mustang Dark Horse compete will be on the streets of Newcastle on March 11, 2023. We can expect to see 11 Fords on the 2023 grid, up from nine in 2022. Under the hood of the Mustang Dark Horse Supercar is a race-prepped Coyote 5.0-liter V8 that’s extensively updated for the S650 generation. For starters, the new Coyote engine features dual throttle bodies, stronger internals, and other improvements. We expect the new Coyote to make around 480 ponies within the GT and 500 for the Dark Horse, though Ford hasn’t yet given any official power numbers. As for the Ford Mustang Dark Horse Supercar, the production-based Coyote V8 has received some significant modifications to provide it with more than 600 ponies under the hood.
