FORD BRONCO HEADING TO EUROPE IN SPRING

Ford Motor Company is as American as football and fighter jets. And it’s not going to be shy about it. When looking at markets outside of the United States, Europe in particular, Ford seeks to offer something that brands from The Old World simply do not possess: Americana. We see that with the Ford Mustang GT, as one example. But another example will soon be the formidable Bronco. Starting spring of 2023, European Union customers will be able to order the reborn 4×4 SUV, after hinting that it would do so earlier this year.

There will be two powertrain offerings for the Ford Bronco in Europe. The first will be a 2.3L four-cylinder Ecoboost capable of about 300 horsepower. The second offered powerplant will be the 2.7-liter V6 turbo gas unit that can produce a more stout 330 horsepower. Tighter emissions regulations dictate that there will not be a 3.0L twin-turbo though. The Bronco Raptor, which is powered by the 3.0L twin-turbo V6 will then, by default, not be made available across the pond either.

The European-sped Ford Bronco will carry a starting price tag of €60,000, or $63,270 in accordance with the current exchange rates. That puts the euro-spec Bronco at nearly twice the price of a base American model which has a starting price of $32,295, pending any price hikes. This might be why Ford is referring to the Euro-Bronco as a “Halo” product. The Bronco will overtake the Explorer for most expensive Ford offered in Europe. The Bronco then will be pinned against other well known off-road SUV’s like the Jeep Wrangler, and Land Rover for market segment superiority. If it doesn’t take over the playing field altogether, it will definitely even things out as it has in America.
