Classic American Muscle (CAM) classes in SCCA Autocross bring out some incredible restomods and pro-touring muscle cars. But this 1965 Mustang build we covered back in 2020 is simply on another level, with its most impressive features not so easily spotted. The custom bodywork is utterly striking, but underneath rests the front and rear subframes of an S550 Mustang GT350, along with the suspension systems. Meanwhile, a 5.0L Coyote V8 crate engine lies under the hood. You could now own this one-of-a-kind epic Mustang as it’s up for auction through Bring A Trailer.

Time is running out, though, as the auction for the Coyote-Powered 1965 Ford Mustang has less than 24 hours left until it closes with the current bid as of writing resting at $38,500. The owner, Mark Stevens, competed in the 2018 Baja 1000 and took his building skills and driving abilities to the tarmac with this car. With a widened bodywork, 10-speed automatic transmission, CCW 18×12″ wheels, Penske coilovers, Brembo brake calipers, a front splitter, and LED lights. The factory fenders were cut and moved outward to accommodate for the width of the GT350 suspension. Meanwhile, the bodywork is coated in metal-look Steel-It material. The car also features a carbon-fiber hood, front splitter, ventilated deck lid, and a center-exit dual exhaust system. You may have also noticed the Ford truck badge installed in place of the factory grille, which is a nice touch.

The custom interior features a Chromoly roll cage, Status carbon-fiber bucket seats, racing harnesses, a MoTeC digital dash unit, and a MoTec switch panel. The stripped cabin is equipped with a Chromoly steel roll cage as well as Status Racing carbon-fiber bucket seats and harnesses. Meanwhile, the engine controller, wiring, battery, and other equipment have been mounted in the space formerly occupied by the rear seat, making room for the Coyote engine.
Sadly, sacrifices had to be made as this fantastic 1965 Ford Mustang had its climate control system removed. This modified Mustang is now offered on dealer consignment in Indiana with an Ohio title. The title carries a “Non-Actual Warning: Odometer Discrepancy” mileage notation and lists “Conversion-IL” under the comments section. So if you’re looking for an exhilarating car to take to the racetrack, this might be the best chance to get something extremely unique and fun to drive.
