While the focus has been on the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV concept for the start of CES 2023, Stellantis also held its Keynote at the event. A significant part of the presentation was a teaser of a new Dodge Charger EV featuring a yellow paint job and a “400” badge on the front fenders. Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares takes a moment during his presentation to let a newly engineered exhaust sound for the Banshee play throughout the stage, which isn’t all that surprising to hear since Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis stated that it would be a customizable feature for customers through Direct Connection, which is pretty neat.
Dodge Charger EV Teaser: Details
The number likely indicates the volt system for the car; this particular one is probably the 400-volt system which is expected to offer output levels of 340 kilowatts (456 hp) and 440 kilowatts (590 hp). There is also an 800-volt Dodge SRT Banshee powertrain, though the power has yet to be announced. We could see this Charger EV revealed alongside the final last-call model in March.
If you didn’t know, Dodge is throwing a massive festival at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 20, 2023. Formally known as the “Last Call” performance festival, the primary occasion is to mark the end of the brand’s modern muscle car era as we know it. The show’s stars will be the highly-anticipated “Last Call” special edition muscle car and the all-electric Charger Daytona SRT Concept. Dodge purposely omitted the “Banshee” name when describing the electric Dodge Charger concept, suggesting that we could see a third variant of the all-electric muscle car. This could be the car we glimpse during the Stellantis presentation.
That being said, this version could be more production-intent, with a more down-to-earth interior; we can already hear the update to the sound of the Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust system.
