As if there wasn’t enough hype surrounding the Corvette brand right now, The Z06 has begun deliveries, and the E-Ray is set to make its public debut sooner than later. The icing on the cake might be the news that Chevrolet will announce the Z06 GT3.R race car later this month. A new social media video shares the official reveal date of the Corvette Z06 GT3.R is January 27th. The reveal takes place on a Friday, just days before the 61st Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.

More than just a factory car, the Corvette Z06 GT3.R will be available for customer purchase, with exactly twenty of them expected to be built, satisfying racing homologation rules. Pricing remains elusive, presumably until its official debut, but you can apply to purchase one now. As for a “regular” Corvette Z06, starting prices sit at $106,695 and $114,195 for a couple and convertible respectively. Expect the turnkey racecar to run much more than that, however.
Corvette Racing and Team Chevy were the outlets posting the teaser video about the 2024 GT3.R across social media and the video itself is a culmination of pit stop shots as well as an on track montage showcasing the Z06 GT3.R capability. The shots were more than likely taken from its most recent testing alongside a Le Mans-bound Camaro last month at Sebring. According to Corvette Blogger, the lead development driver for the Z06 is Tommy Milner, who has been part of Corvette Racing since 2011, winning the GTE Pro class at Le Mans twice (2011, 2015) and the IMSA GTLM Driver’s Championship in 2016 with the team. Recently, Milner led the team in last year’s FIA WEC run.
Milner will have a part-time role this season with IMSA with the Corvette C8.R race car, acting as a third driver during 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring, with Jordan Taylor and Antonio Garcia driving full time.
The current Corvette Racing C8.R isn’t a purpose built FIA GT3 car like the upcoming Z06 GT3.R, but will nonetheless compete in the category for the time being. In the World Endurance Championship (WEC), a sole C8.R will be fielded in the GT Am category with drivers Nicky Catsburg and Ben Keating. GM’s motorsports program is otherwise very busy with the all-new Cadillac LMDh hybrid race car, which will also see its first race at this month’s 24 Hours of Daytona.
