Production for the 2023 Ford Ranger has been pushed back by two months. As a result, it will be coming to North America as a 2024 model instead of 2023. Thanks to an insider post on the Ranger6g forum, we know that the latest Ford Ranger (P703N) will begin Job 1 production at the Michigan Assembly Plant on July 10, 2023. Though, that date has yet to be confirmed by Ford. The OK-To-Buy (OKTB) should be archived in July 2023 or shortly after, which means it’s now estimated that the NA Ford Ranger will begin arriving at dealerships in August or September.
The “Job 1” term refers to the beginning of the production of a new model. This doesn’t mean you’ll be able to take delivery of your new truck after. The factory has to work out the kinks, build and check the new model, and then decide when the new vehicles are OKTB. So, if the Job 1 date is in July, which has yet to be confirmed, that translates to new Ford Ranger pickup trucks hitting our roads and reaching local dealers in the Fall.

It remains unclear what the U.S.-spec Rangers will have in terms of powertrain or powertrain options it will have. Ford may use the latest version of their 2.3-liter turbocharged I4 gasoline engine as it has an output of around 300-310 horsepower. This rating is similar to the new 2023 Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon. Since the Ranger will be built at the same plant as the Ford Bronco, the 2.7L EcoBoost could also be an available option for customers. As for the upcoming U.S. Ranger Raptor, we can expect to see the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 under the hood, giving it a similar power output to that of the Bronco Raptor. Again, though, we’ll have to wait and see.
Meanwhile, Europe recently got its hands on a new Platinum trim for the Ford Ranger that will slot between the Wildtrack and the Raptor with more premium looks and features. But we Americans aren’t even a little bit jealous that Ford continues to neglect its home turf. We’re happy to continue carrying on with the last-gen Ranger here on US Soil for the next 7-8 months.
