2024 FORD MUSTANG DARK HORSE SHOWS OFF NEW CARBON FIBER WHEELS

The 2024 Ford Mustang made its much anticipated debut last fall. It will go down in history as the last gasoline powered Mustang that Ford produces. As such, the blue oval company seems to want to go out with a bang, and offer as many goodies as it can to its loyal customer and fan base it has held near and dear since 1964. One of the more exciting announcements during the reveal in September was the launch of the Ford Mustang Dark Horse, the breed’s high performance iteration. The company announced at the Chicago Auto Show that in addition to its high performing specs, the Dark Horse will be offered with optional fully carbon fiber wheels.

The Details:

Ford and Carbon Revolution partnered up to provide a fully carbon fiber 5-spoke single-piece 19-inch wheel with lug nuts made between the spokes, giving subtle nods to ponies of the past. The Carbon fiber option, usually reserved for the likes of the 2023 Corvette Z06, Ferrari and even the top tier Ford GT, provides both better performance overall and something to brag about at the next cars and coffee. The new optional wheels cut nearly 37% of weight off from the regular aluminum wheels. That only bolsters the performance coming from the updated 5.0L Coyote V8 sitting under the hood.

In addition, Carbon Revolution utilized an aerospace technology inspired process to provide the correct thermal shielding using a plasma arc spray that uses a combination of ceramic and metal materials inside the front wheels. All in all the wheels underwent hundreds of tests to produce this final masterpiece which has also been validated for structural and environmental peace of mind. The cost of the carbon fiber wheels have not been announced yet but should be unveiled soon, especially with production (slated for this summer) not far off on the horizon.
