Germany's National Hydrogen Council has significantly raised its forecast for future hydrogen demand in Germany. The expert committee, which advises the German government on hydrogen issues, now assumes a total demand of between 94 and 124 terawatt hours (TWh) for the year 2030. By way of comparison, around 55 TWh of hydrogen is currently consumed in Germany every year. An initial forecast presented by the NWR in February 2023 assumed a maximum demand of 93 terawatt hours. Pakistan has recorded its wettest April since 1961, with more than double the usual rainfall for the month, the country’s national weather centre has announced. The Asian nation experienced days of extreme weather in April that killed scores of people as well as destroying property and farmland. The northern French region of Aisne suffered heavy mudslides following a bout of rain between May 1st and May 2nd. The town of Courmelles was particularly affected, with a 57-year-old woman dying after being swept away by mudslides. Her partner was also injured and taken to hospital.
