A 67-year-old German tourist has died on Crete after setting off on an hour-long hike and presumably straying from the path. The man had set off on Sunday morning from the village of Omalos on a plateau in the regional district of Chania, as the Greek news channel ERT reported on Monday, citing the authorities. The pipeline carrying drinking water from mainland Italy to the island of Capri near the southern city of Naples has been repaired, and tourists can once again visit the popular destination, Capri Mayor Paolo Falco reported on Sunday. In a drastic move to resolve its acute housing shortage, the north-eastern Spanish city of Barcelona plans to abolish the rental of holiday flats by the end of 2028. All flats that are currently legally rented out to tourists for short-term stays will then be available for use by residents, Barcelona's Mayor Jaume Collboni said on Friday.
