Australians have been waiting a while to get their hands on a factory right-hand drive Ford F-150. Luckily, that has finally happened as local order books for America’s best-selling pickup truck opened ahead of deliveries starting in Q3 of this year. Moreover, this isn’t just a steering swap; Ford has extensively tested and tuned the truck for Australian conditions. But it won’t be cheap.
Ford F-150 Australia: Details
The Ford F-150 will arrive in local showrooms later this year and will be available in XLT and Lariat trims, both of which are offered in either short or long-wheelbase configurations. The cheapest option, the Ford F-150 XLT SWB will cost customers $106,950 AUD ($73,038 USD). The XLT LWB will cost slightly more at $107,945 AUD ($73,718 USD). Both models are powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6, producing 399 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque.
The Ford F-150 Lariat will be available for $139,950 AUD ($95,575 USD) in the SWB configuration and $140,945 AUD ($96,254 USD) in the LWD guise. The Lariat features the same powertrain specifications, wheelbase, and bed size as the XLT trim but a ton of extra features that will make this truck significantly more premium.
That said, the F-150 XLT isn’t without some great features, including a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, 10-way power-adjustable passenger seat, an 8-inch infotainment display, seven-speaker audio system, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable pedals, cruise control, Ford Pro-Trailer Back-Up Assist, and all the safety features you could ever want. However, the F-150 Lariat takes things a step further with a premium mesh grille insert, chrome appearance package, a twin-panel moonroof, leather-accented seats, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, a 12-inch infotainment display, 12-inch digital instrument cluster, an 18-speaker Band & Olufsen audio system, 360-degree camera, Intelligent adaptive cruise control with stop and go, and more.
Both trims will be available in Oxford White, Agate Black, Iconic Silver, Antimatter Blue, Carbonized Grey, and Rapid Red. There’s plenty of reason to want one, but is the six-figure price tag worth it? That’s up to the customers.
