Ford quietly added the price of the 2024 S650 Mustang to its customer website, and it didn’t take long for everybody to notice. For those seeking a cheap thrill, you may be disappointed. But we all knew that a price jump was coming, right?
New Ford Mustang Price And Comparisons
The new S650 2024 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Fastback carries an MSRP of $30,920 USD before destination, making it the most expensive base Mustang ever. It’s approximately $3,150 USD more than the outgoing 2023 S550 Mustang EcoBoost, which was $27,770 USD. A price that itself is $3,345 more than when the S550 Mustang first came out for the 2015 model year, which was $24,425 USD. This is for a muscle car with four cylinders. In fact, a 2015 Mustang GT, with a 5.0L Coyote V8, was just a few grand more at around $33,000 USD.
To look even farther back, the original Ford Mustang started at $2,368 USD back in 1964, making the new S650 Mustang 13-times more expensive than 60 years ago.
Inflation, man. The invisible tax.
S650 Mustang GT, Dark Horse Pricing
Similar premiums can be seen throughout the 2024 Ford Mustang price ladder, with the EcoBoost Premium Fastback and Convertible trims seeing the biggest increases at $3,650 each. Pricing for the 2024 Mustang EcoBoost Premium Fastback is now $36,445, while the convertible is $41,945. And if you think the convertible price feels steep, you’re right. It’s actually more expensive than the 2024 Mustang GT Fastback, which comes in at $41,495 USD. This is a price increase of $3,150 USD over the S550 Mustang GT Fastback from the 2023 model year ($38,345 USD). The 2024 Mustang GT Premium Fastback is $46,015, or $2,650 more than before. The convertible version of the Mustang GT is now over 50-grand, stickering at $51,515 USD.
As for the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse price. It is the most powerful Coyote V8-powered pony car ever at 500 hp, as well as the most capable, and its price reflects that. Officially, the S650 Mustang Dark Horse is priced from $57,970 USD, or $1,400 more than the S550 2023 Mustang Mach 1 it replaces in the hierarchy. This is before adding on fancy options such as carbon fiber wheels.
If you feel like the 2024 Mustang price is a little too steep for your needs, Chevrolet will sell you a 455 hp V8 Camaro for as much as Ford will sell you a new four-cylinder Mustang.
