The upgrades made to the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado take it to a whole new level of spectacular capability and enjoyable performance. However, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has officially revealed the estimated fuel economy for the new generation of the mid-size truck. Though the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado has three available engines to choose from, at the moment the FuelEconomy.Gov website has only posted fuel economy numbers for the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado WT with the 2.7L L2R turbo engine. That’s the base motor for those who don’t know.
This means that until the EPA finalizes fuel economy numbers on the other trim levels, customers will only be able to take delivery of a new Colorado WT.
2023 Chevrolet Colorado Fuel Economy Details
Suppose customers purchase the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado WT with just 2WD. In that case, they can expect the fuel economy to be around 20 MPG in the city, 25 MPG on the highway, and 22 combined, bringing annual fuel cost to approximately $2,300, depending on the state of oil prices. As for the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado 4WD, which will likely be the most desired option, customers can expect 19 MPG in the city, 23 on the highway, and 21 combined, only adding around $100 for the annual fuel cost.
Comparing this fuel economy to the previous generation 2022 Chevrolet Colorado, which had the 2.5L gasoline engine, the gas mileage is similar to the 2WD version having 19 MPG in the city, 25 on the highway, and 22 combined. Meanwhile, the 4WD had 19 in the city, 24 on the highway, and 21 MPG combined. Resulting in more power for the newer generation of the Chevrolet Colorado but around the same fuel economy, which is a total win.
Once the EPA finishes testing of trim levels equipped with the 2.7L L3B turbo engine (2023 Colorado Trail Boss, LT, Z71) and L3B High Output engine (2023 Colorado ZR2, every 2023 GMC Canyon), General Motors will begin shipping the rest of its new midsize truck lineup to customers.
