Over the past few weeks, we’ve covered some Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison prototype sightings. The most recent is a close-up video examining the suspension underneath the camouflaged midsize truck. This indicates that it wouldn’t be long until Chevrolet debuted the ultimate off-road-focused truck in the new Chevrolet Colorado lineup.
2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison: What To Expect
Social media posts from Chevrolet Performance showcases two images of a the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison prototype sitting on a dirt road with 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires, a new bumper, which appears to have a location for a winch, and vibrant red recovery hooks. According to the post, we can expect the reveal date for the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison on May 31, 2023. Though the teased truck features some heavy camouflage, specifically on the hood and rear fenders, we can get a pretty good idea of what to expect for the creation just from the previous iteration of the Bison, which will have even more capability than ever before, since Chevy engineers have already mentioned the ZR2 was a considerable step up from the previous model.
The prominent tires seen in the post are just one example of the expected changes. We know they’ll be 35 inches due to the last sighting we discussed. With the assistance of the tires and new suspension, we suspect the Bison will be at least 2 inches taller than the standard ZR2. It looks a bit taller than that in these teaser images, so we’ll have to wait and see what Chevrolet says the improvement is. Given that AEV is working with Chevrolet Performance on the creation, we can expect some upgrades to the skid plates of the midsize truck, though the specifics remain unclear.
Additionally, we can expect to see the Colorado ZR2 Bison with the turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine, as that’s the only option available for the newest generation. The power output found on the standard ZR2 is 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, and that could be the same on the Bison unless they do something different to make the small and mighty engine have an even greater output.
