Vehicles built and sold in China are often variations of what’s seen throughout the rest of the world. However, a recent creation that debuted at the Auto Shanghai 2023 in China this week emphasizes features of the GMC Sierra and takes them to the extreme—known as the Cannon CyberP!ckup 6×6.

This Caricature of American pickup truck culture is a three-axle monster developed by Great Wall Motors in partnership with local automaker Chaojing Motors. The pickup is designed with massive ground clearance to take any terrain. With 18-inch wheels with 33-inch Cooper Discoverer AT3 off-road tires wrapped around them. The CyberP!ckup is based on the Shanhai Cannon but with a third axle, a heavy-duty suspension, nitrogen-loaded shock absorbers, and no fewer than five electronically controlled differential locks.
The Cannon Cyberp!ckup has been developed to accommodate gasoline and plug-in hybrid drivetrains and a hydrogen fuel cell setup and serve as a battery-powered EV. This means that no matter what federal regulations are, the truck is ready for it.
China’s massive Cannon Cyberp!ckup features a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 mated with an electric motor to deliver a total output of 510 horsepower and 552 lb-ft of torque, which should give plenty of power needed to tackle any obstacles thrown at it. But, of course, the more extended wheelbase may prove challenging, especially on those tighter switchbacks. As for the PHEV, the undisclosed battery pack is expected to provide 31 miles of electric range.
As for if this vehicle will be entirely manufactured or a one-off creation for the auto show, Chinese car news outlets have reported seeing the 6×6 Cannon CyberP!ckup 6×6 prototypes in the wild. Additionally, they’re expected to go into production at some point in the future.
