VISION RETRO DESIGNS DEBUTS CHEVROLET CAMARO-BASED CARBON FIBER CHEVELLE SS

The Chevrolet Chevelle SS is a classic muscle car that, unfortunately, hasn’t been in production for some time, which means unless you’re working on your own restoration project, you won’t be able to get one with the modern performance and amenities found in something like the Chevrolet Camaro. However, Vision Retro Designs has a project that could be perfect for you, a custom Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible that blends the exterior style of the iconic Chevelle Super Sport with the powertrain of a fifth-generation Camaro.

Vision Retro Designs Chevelle SS: Details

The entire body of the Vision Retro Designs Chevelle SS is fashioned from carbon fiber, making this astronomically lighter than the original. The custom exterior body, known as the A69 Chevelle Series treatment, is hand-laid by Vision Retro Designs. This example features the “dual dome” hood, which gives the re-bodied Camaro even more curb appeal. In addition, the headlights of the Chevrolet Camaro have been replaced with quad halo headlights, which flank an original Chevelle SS radiator grille.

The body features a beautiful shade known as Strato Blue Metallic, with white D96 beltline stripes flowing down either side of the body to add perfect contrast. SS badges have also been added to the body to make the build even more authentic. Unfortunately, if you look closely around the back, rear parking sensors are visible, which betrays the age of the vehicle.

As for the interior of the reworked fifth-gen Camaro, the ZL1 interior has been upgraded with high-end trimmings and materials. All four seats are furbished in black Nappa leather with white accents, while the dashboard and door cards get custom carbon fiber inlays. Since the Chevelle SS build comes from a modern Camaro ZL1, all the modern interior luxuries remain. This includes a seven-inch touchscreen display that takes care of your entertainment needs while the climate control and several other amenities ensure optimum comfort. Vision Retro Designs has even retained the Magnetic Ride Control suspension.

This particular Chevelle SS creation is up for grabs through Mecum Auctions, particularly at the Indy 2023 event in May. So, if you want a carbon fiber Chevelle SS with a 6.2-liter V8 engine, watch for that event next month.
