The 2023 GMC Caynon AT4X is an exquisite and luxurious off-road truck with enough power to compete with the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor and the capability to take on almost any terrain. Not to mention, since it is a midsize truck, it’s going to fit on the narrower tracks much easier than that of a full-size truck. As if that wasn’t good enough, GMC went ahead and teamed up with American Expedition Vehicles to build the 2024 GMC Canyon AT4X AEV Edition and recently released a teaser for the truck that shows off some of the underbody protection, as well as the overbuilt front fascia.
2024 GMC Canyon AT4X AEV Edition Teaser: Details
The 2024 GMC Canyon AT4X AEV Edition features a raised bumper to improve the approach angle. The bumper also features a winch that could come included with the truck. The vehicle’s underside is almost entirely protected with the help of what we assume to be hot-stamped boron steel, as seen on the 2023 GMC Sierra AT4X AEV Edition. The skid plates are rated to be 3.5 times stronger than an equivalent cold-stamped high-strength steel part. Which means they should have incredible resistance to gouging and bending.
We can also clearly see the Multimatic DSSV dampers at the front of the vehicle, and it’s safe to assume the truck features a lift of some kind, along with the addition of larger tires measuring 35 inches in diameter. All of which contributes to making the 2024 GMC Canyon AT4X AEV Edition a capable off-roader the moment the customer drives off the dealer lot. The full reveal of the 2024 GMC Canyon AT4X AEV Edition will be on Thursday, July 6, and we suspect that the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison will be unveiled around that date as well.
The Canyon AT4X AEV Edition is expected to replace the current 2023 Canyon AT4X Edition 1, but will do so with larger tires, and more underbody armor. As a result, expect the price of this upcoming truck to push midsize trucks to new heights.
A previous teaser photographed by MC&T showcases that the GMC Canyon AT4X AEV will feature a bed-mounted sport rack and spare-tire carrier. However, it’s unclear if that’ll be standard or an option, like the winch above, so we’ll have to wait to see. Either way, there’s plenty to get excited about as GM prepares to unveil its most off-road capable midsize trucks yet.
