If you want a supercharged V8 truck from Ford, there’s only one option: the six-figure F-150 Raptor R. Except, as of today, it isn’t.
At Carlisle Ford Nationals happening in Pennsylvania right now, Ford Performance pulled the sheet off the FP700 supercharged package for all Coyote V8-equipped F-150 trucks. Packing a 3.0L Whipple supercharger, output is cranked to a whopping 700 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, the FP700 F-150 package is CARB certified 50-state legal, and comes with a 3yr/36k mile FPP warranty when installed by a Ford Dealer or ASE-certified technician. The FP700 package will also come in two distinct styles: a Black Edition, and a Bronze Edition, each featuring identifiable design cues of their respective colors. Wheels, graphics, lettering, and all. The package also comes with a rear suspension lowering kit to give the Ford F-150 a more squatted, athletic stance.
As you might imagine, a warranty-backed 700 hp upgrade to a Ford F-150 isn’t exactly a low-budget build. Whether its the FP700 Ford F-150 Black Edition or FP700 F-150 Bronze Edition, the price remains the same: $12,350 USD. But with the base truck being of your choosing, you could have yourself a real bare-bones sleeper of a truck.
Say you got a Ford F-150 XL, with the 5.0L V8 option and nothing else. It doesn’t matter the bed length, or of its a 4×2 or 4×4. Say you kept it as basic as possible, you’d be looking at $37,925 out the door. Add the FP700 package, and you’re just cresting $50,000 for a new truck with a 700 horsepower supercharged V8. You simply cannot beat that power:dollar ratio.
As automakers and dealers look to keep things rich, look for more and more dealer-installed performance packages like this to be offered in the future. Ford Performance is just one example. We also see Dodge keeping the party going with its Direct Connection program, which now offers EPA-certified Stage Kit packages that will boost the output of the Challenger Hellcat Redeye to 885 horsepower. We’re sure Chevy fans are wondering when they’ll get in on the fun, too.
