THEY DID IT: HP TUNERS CRACKS GM GLOBAL B, WILL NOW SUPPORT C8 CORVETTE, BLACKWING CADILLACS

The very first article MC&T ever published back in 2019 was an exclusive report that detailed the upcoming cybersecurity of GM’s future products. Centered around the C8 Corvette Stingray at the time, as it wasn’t out yet, GM’s new Global B electrical architecture, aka GM Vehicle Intelligence Platform (VIP), introduced encrypted engine and transmission control units on new products, first starting with the Cadillac CT4 and CT5 families, and then onto the Corvette. Of course, all of it came true, and encrypted TCMs and ECMs are now also found on every variant of Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon, Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, Corvette, and all new electric vehicles.

This layer of cybersecurity has been a major headache for the aftermarket, as it’s been a pain to reliably tune and upgrade the V8 engines of these cars with significant effect. In fairness, there have been some workaround solutions, but nothing appears to come quite as close to what we’re reporting today. HP Tuners, arguably the leader in aftermarket vehicle control modules, have announced GM Global B support on select vehicles.

At launch, HP Tuners will offer diagnostics and tuning support for the following GM control modules:
• E99 ECM: Found in GM vehicles like the 2020-2023 Corvette C8 Stingray and Cadillac CT5-V
and CT4-V Blackwing (and non-Blackwing variants).
• T93 TCM (limited support at launch): Found in E99 ECM-equipped GM vehicles with the 10-
speed automatic transmission.

In the coming months, HP Tuners plans to offer custom tuning support for the full line-up of GM’s
Global B controllers covering their most popular models. This includes new generations of the E90
ECM, E01 ECM, E66 ECM, and the remainder of T93 TCM support.

Now, it’s important to note that select HP Tuners GM Global B Authorized Dealers only at launch. The retail price for GM Global B E99 ECM support will start at $1,499 USD and 8 universal credits to license.
