Dodge has flirted with dropping a Viper V10 into the engine bay of its beloved Challenger muscle car, as evident by a Drag Pak concept car for the SEMA Show. Ultimately, however, the supercharged Hellcat V8 took precedent, spinning off multiple variants that were even more powerful. This includes the Demon, Redeye, and all-conquering Demon 170. But what if Dodge did offer the Challenger with a V10? And what if they did make a Challenger ACR, as once rumored? Wonder no longer.
Someone modified a 2013 Dodge Challenger SXT by swapping out the engine with an 8.4-liter V10 engine from a Dodge Viper. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission, and at a glance, you wouldn’t know this thing was hiding an 8.4L V10 under the hood. It finishes in white and appears to be your average Dodge Challenger, minus the exterior wings and splitters to increase aerodynamics. And no, somebody didn’t chop up a Scat Pack or Hellcat to get this done. It was a V6-powered SXT model that went under the knife.

Listed on Bring A Trailer, the engine isn’t the only modification for the Dodge Challenger SXT as it includes black-finishes SRT-style 20″ wheels, Wilwood brakes, adjustable coilovers, a Hellcat-style hood and bumper covers, the previously mentioned front splitter and canards, an SRT-style decklid spoiler, an aftermarket wing, a rear diffuser, taillights from a later model, and an SRT-branded steering wheel. As for the engine swap, that was performed in 2016. If you’re interested in purchasing this car, you can, as it is up for auction. The current bid is $25,000, and it appears the seller acquired the vehicle in November 2022. The Dodge Challenger has an accident-free Carfax report and a clean Michigan title in the seller’s name, making purchasing the car significantly easier.
The main thing that helps this 2013 Dodge Challenger stand out as something altogether different is the Viper logos present on the hood, graphics on the nose reading “Powered by Prefix,” and “ACR” decals adorning the front fenders. The cabin of the epic car is equipped with eating trimmed in black cloth upholstery along with a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Amenities for the car include automatic climate control, power windows, power mirrors, power door locks, and a factory stereo.
As far as the car’s life goes, Carfax reports a reading of 22,696 miles in 2013, 22,742 miles in 2014, and 192,000 miles in 2022. Since the Viper engine was swapped out in 2016, it’s safe to assume a massive chunk of the miles for the car has been put onto the V10 engine. The seller states that the Prefix Corporation of Rochester Hills, Michigan, carried out work that included the power steering and replacing the radiator, thermostat, and temperature gauge shortly after the engine swap.
