In December of last year, Chevrolet unveiled the second generation of the Montana for the Brazilian market. Its architecture is shared with other South American market Chevys, including the Onix, Onix Plus, and Tracker, which means it has a unibody chassis like that of the Ford Maverick and the equally proportioned Ram Rampage small truck. Though the truck hasn’t been on the market for very long, Chevrolet has just announced a new trim for the compact truck released for the 2024 model year—the Chevrolet Montana RS.
Chevrolet Nova Montana RS Small Truck: Details
The 2024 Chevrolet Montana RS will be available at local dealerships as early as August, and this truck will come in at the top of the line with a complete package of technology, safety, comfort, and connectivity features. Outside of the RS badging that will be visible on the truck, customers can quickly identify this trim thanks to the array of components that help it stand out from the rest of the pack, including:
- Honeycomb-style front grille with glossy black accents
- Chevrolet logo in black
- RS emblem on the back cover
- Integrated roof rack
- Aluminum wheels with a unique finish and machined face
- Exterior mirrors with glossy black cover
- Steering wheel, dashboard, seats, and armrests in premium black upholstery with red topstitching
- Steering wheel spoke surrounds, air ducts, and center console in high-gloss black.
Since this truck falls at the top of the 2024 Chevrolet Montana line, it comes standard with all the tech, convenience, and safety features you could ever want on a modern vehicle. As this truck is designed to be the sportier option for the Montana, that means Chevrolet still doesn’t have an aspiration to make it extraordinary off the road. Customers will have to look towards the Ram Rampage or Ford Maverick for that.
Will Chevrolet Sell A Small Truck In The USA And Canada?
On that note, Chevrolet still doesn’t intend to bring the Montana to North American markets for a good reason. The cost of bringing the compact truck to our shores would be considerable, and the vehicles would need to be produced in the United States, Canada, or Mexico. Instead of bringing the model to the U.S., GM has instead hinted at the possibility of building and selling a small electric Chevrolet truck in the future. Though, considering that it’s likely to lose money at any price point below $40,000, that’ll defeat the purpose of having an affordable compact truck. This is why the Ford Maverick is so incredibly popular in the current state of the economy.
As for a frugally-priced small Chevrolet here in the USA and Canada, the new Trax will have to do.
