GMC X EARTHCRUISER HUMMER EV COLLAB COMES INTO FOCUS

Earlier this year, GMC announced a collaboration with EarthCruiser to build the ultimate Overlander Hummer EV Concept. After months of silence since the first teaser of a Hummer EV with solar panels lining the roof was revealed, the two companies have finally launched a second teaser, this one featuring a clearer glimpse at the project along with what appears to be a pop-up tent built into the popular electric vehicle.

What Is The Earthcruiser x GMC Hummer EV?

Unfortunately, the image in the teaser is just a rendering, but it gives us significantly more insight into the final product when compared to the previous one. Based on the vehicle’s shape, the rendering places a pop-up camper on the bed, designed to fit almost flush with the Hummer EV pickup’s body. In addition, there are storage compartments that flank each side of the pop-up shell, which will prove to be helpful for an overlanding creation. Meanwhile, flood lights are mounted to the pop-up to help illuminate the area surrounding the truck when stationary. That said, based on the previous teaser, it’s safe to say no one will be stargazing from within the sleeping area due to the hard shell that houses at least five separate solar panels.

Though, at the back, a platform appears to stick out, which could allow for some extra space for people to lay out and gaze at the stars. Then again, it could just be the hatch for someone to climb in through the back of the vehicle to get into the “living area.” Overland rigs are meant to have all the amenities one might need to survive with just their car for at least a week. That means EarthCruiser and GMC have to pack a bunch of goodies into this concept. Luckily, the Hummer EV doesn’t have a shortage of space to be creative with. It’ll be exciting to see what they have in store, outside, and in.

According to Carscoops, a production version is coming to market early in 2024, which will cost a pretty penny, as most EarthCruiser products do. Not to mention how expensive the Hummer EV is. That said, we’re hopeful we’ll see the full-fledged concept at the 2023 SEMA Show or some other automotive event.
