December 7 was expected to be the final day of production for the Chevrolet Camaro, sparking the beginning of the end of the V8 muscle car era. The day has come and gone, and the 2024 Chevrolet Camaro production is still happening, much to the relief of customers awaiting their Panther-themed Collector’s Edition, as well as the hyper-limited Garage 56 Edition.
2024 Chevrolet Camaro Production: Details
According to The Drive, a recent report points towards GM’s pony car having a few more sunsets to come. We already know that the final convertible was built back around November 22. Still, the coupe’s last production day has been moved up to January 2024, giving the beloved muscle car just one more month of production before it gets taken from the stage. That means that once again, the Dodge Charger and Challenger, within their current forms, will be the first of the muscle cars to end production and do away with the beloved V8 engine under their hoods.

As for the Chevrolet Camaro, there’s a lot of speculation as to what’s next, sparked by a quote from Chevy back in March stating that “this is not the end of Camaro’s story.” Which literally could mean anything. Regardless, we won’t see the Chevrolet Camaro again for a good couple of years. And while compliance-driven future product plans has the internet speculating of a Camaro EV, we’re not so quick to jump on that bandwagon. In fact, with GM cooling off a bit on its so-called “all-electric future” messaging, we wouldn’t be surprised if the next Camaro features a small block V8 engine one way or another. That’s even if Dodge is planning an electric Charger, and even if Ford will have an electric Mustang around 2029.
For now, let’s appreciate the fact that the 2024 Chevrolet Camaro continues production for another month.
