Man shot dead on South Jersey city street, cops say

A man was shot to death early Saturday morning on a residential street in Camden, officials said.

Police responded to the scene of a shooting on South Congress Road at 2:36 a.m. and found a man who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office said.

The victim, later identified as 44-year-old Camden resident Maurice McCargo, was pronounced dead at Cooper University Medical Center at 3:02 a.m., authorities said.

No arrests have been made. The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office is asking anyone with information to call Det. Cody Skinner at 856-580-6053 orsubmit a tip online.
