'That's all that matters': What Joe Rodon said in the tunnel immediately after Leeds win over Stoke

Leeds United narrowly saw off the challenge of Stoke City to win 1-0 at Elland Road on Tuesday, with Dan James scoring the only goal of the game – and Joe Rodon gave his verdict in the tunnel.

A winning run of nine league games came to an end on Saturday when Huddersfield managed to stop Leeds from nicking all three points – despite the sending off of Jonathan Hogg. One red card was lucky.

Just three days late and Leeds were back in action against Stoke, who were themselves feeding off of new-found confidence after a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough on the weekend. Leeds started stronger.

James eventually scoring after Leeds had failed to build on their dominance – prompting Daniel Farke to vent his frustration on the touchline. The goal made by Georginio Rutter, his 15th assist of the season.

A gorgeous turn – which left Aidy White astounded in the commentary box – before finding James and the Welshman slamming the ball home, via a deflection. In the second 45, Stoke came into the game.

Joe Rodon’s tunnel verdict on Leeds United win over Stoke City

They had chance, with Illan Meslier called into action – especially, very late on. Mateo Joseph should probably have scored after rounding goalkeeper Daniel Iversen. But, Leeds held on to secure a 1-0 win.

Ipswich came from behind twice to beat Bristol City 3-2 at Portman Road, meaning it is as you were – with Southampton playing on Wednesday evening. A tenth league win in 11, including eight clean sheets.

Tunnel Cam has become a thing this season, with Georginio Rutter often celebrating – but it was Rodon giving his verdict: “They’re not always nice, you know what I mean. Clean sheet, that’s all that matters.”
