BBC pundit shares what he has noticed about new Leeds United star Connor Roberts already

Connor Roberts is already impressing in a Leeds United shirt since he joined the club on loan from Burnley in January – and Aidy White delivered his verdict on the Wales star’s form since his arrival.

Roberts, 28, was handed his first Championship start on Tuesday night – and his seventh outing for us in total so far. After scoring against Leicester, and an assist at Huddersfield, Roberts was given his chance.

Certainly, Roberts will have given Daniel Farke a bit of a selection headache ahead of Friday’s outing against Sheffield Wednesday. He was up and down the right, good on the ball and tenacious without it.

Partnering Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu in defence, Roberts helped Leeds keep an eighth clean sheet in our last 11 league games. White, a former full-back, gave his take on the signing on BBC Radio Leeds.

I like his tenacity, his energy, his aggression – not aggression to kick people, but his ability to press, win that tackle. Getting on that overlap to get balls in the box. There’s a lot to like. Really solid performance.”

Aidy White impressed with what he’s seen from Connor Roberts

Before the game, Joe Rodon explained Roberts’ importance off the pitch and on Tuesday night – he showed what he can do on it. He surely keeps his place in the side for when Leeds take on Wednesday.

It wasn’t the best performance from Leeds on Tuesday night but it got the job done – Rodon summing it up nicely in the tunnel afterwards. He said they aren’t always pretty, but a clean sheet is all that matters.

Both Ipswich and Leicester picked up wins over Bristol City and Sunderland on Tuesday night, meaning it is as you were for the time being – while Southampton play tonight, taking on Preston at St. Mary’s.
