‘He’s very good’: Timo Werner says £42m Tottenham player is a nightmare to face in training

Timo Werner is really settling in at Tottenham now.

The German has found his feet in north London now it would seem. He’s scored two goals in his last two games, and it’s very exciting to see the attacker hitting his stride at Spurs now.

While Werner is doing the business on the pitch at the moment, by the sounds of it, he’s not having the easiest of times behind the scenes.

Indeed, speaking to the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Werner has claimed that Spurs training can be very difficult at times, claiming that Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are both very difficult to play against at Hotspur Way, with Romero named as the most difficult player to face in training.

Cristian Romero is the toughest player in training

Werner spoke about the £42m man.

“Oh it’s also difficult. Micky is very fast and Cuti is very aggressive in training, I think it’s probably Cuti because he likes to tackle and he’s very good at what he’s doing,” Werner said.

Difficult

We really don’t envy Werner.

Training against Premier League players can be difficult at the best of times, but when you’re against Romero and Van de Ven on a daily basis you have no chance.

Romero is a super aggressive player who will leave you with a few battle scars every time you come up against him, while Van de Ven is a true Rolls Royce of a defender who can dominate any attacker even on their best days.

Werner is a player who utilises his pace to great effect, but Van de Ven is one of the only defenders who can truly keep up with Werner and get the better of him on that front.

There probably aren’t many more difficult defenders to face off against in a training session.
