'I laughed'... Manchester United star reacts to Jurgen Klopp interview meltdown after FA Cup defeat

Manchester United fans were sent into ecstasy when Amad scored his sensational winner to knock Liverpool out of the FA Cup.

Amad’s 120th minute goal was the final moment in a back-and-forth FA Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford, with Manchester United emerging triumphant, as 4-3 winners.

It was a huge win for Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag. But for every winner – there is a loser. Enter Jurgen Klopp.

You didn’t have to be Nostradamus to foresee that Klopp would take elimination to Manchester United vey badly.

Jurgen Klopp’s meltdown

The Liverpool boss was hoping to win the FA Cup in his final season. Manchester United ensured that was impossible, knocking them out of the competition.

It was spectacular, with Ten Hag’s United ending with Bruno Fernandes at centre-back and Harry Maguire charging up the pitch like a box-to-box midfielder.

Klopp predictably let himself down after the game, storming out of an interview with a Danish reporter, even criticising his weight.

The Guardian reported how Klopp ranted how a question about Liverpool facing too many matches was ‘a dumb question’, before walking out, after uttering: “Oh come on. You are obviously not in a great shape and I have no nerves for you.”

Nobody is surprised at this, of course. Klopp has a well-earned reputation as one of the game’s worst losers.

Christian Eriksen laughed at Klopp

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen was one of the heroes in the enthralling encounter, and after linking up with the Denmark international squad, he was asked about the match. The topic of Klopp’s interview with Niels Christian Frederiksen came up too.

Eriksen told Tipsbladet: “I laughed a little at that. I happened to meet Per Frimann, who is his colleague, on the plane on the way home.

“I know that Rasmus (Hojlund) sat the whole flight home with Niels Christian (Frederiksen) so I think they had some good conversations.

“It’s journalism, and what they ask about, it’s nothing you have to do with yourself, but Klopp was of course tired and irritated after they lost.”

Manchester United’s players can take some satisfaction they caused Klopp’s meltdown, but there should be a word of warning.

Liverpool are due back at Old Trafford on April 7 in a Premier League clash. Let’s not let Klopp get the last laugh. Let’s ruin his Premier League hopes too, and then we can enjoy the fireworks.
