Report: West Ham have Michail Antonio replacement lined up as Moyes plots £60m raid on PL rivals

West Ham United boss David Moyes is lining up a hugely exciting summer transfer for a striker to serve as the replacement for Michail Antonio.

33-year-old Michail Antonio has been a magnificent servant for West Ham over the past eight-and-a-half years. However, it’s time for David Moyes to bring in a proper long-term replacement for the Jamaica international.

Antonio has actually been really impressive over the last two games for the Hammers – especially during our 5-0 Europa League win over Freiburg.

However, his limitations are clear and obvious for everyone to see. The former Nottingham Forest man has been terrible for West Ham on the whole this season, and he missed around four months of action after suffering an injury whilst away on international duty with Jamaica.

Antonio has actually caused plenty of controversy off the pitch this season by making near the knuckle remarks about opposition clubs and their players.

It was only last week when he accused the Arsenal fans of being delusional!

He actually made an admission recently that he struggles playing out on the wing now, due to the physical demands of the role.

However, if he has plans of playing as a centre-forward for West Ham for many more years yet, he has another thing coming it seems…

West Ham have Michail Antonio replacement lined up

According to a report from the Sun, West Ham want to sign Ivan Toney in the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old forward is a truly elite player, and he is reportedly being chased by the Hammers, Tottenham and Chelsea.

West Ham were actually linked with a move to sign the former Peterborough man back in January of last year, but he remained with the Bees in the end.

Interestingly, when Toney was at Peterborough, we had the chance to sign him for just £10 million, but we knocked back that opportunity.

Now he will allegedly cost six times that much…

Brentford could demand as much as £60 million for Toney, according to TNT Sports, and I just can’t see West Ham paying anything like that amount for a 28-year-old.

The powerful striker has bagged an impressive 72 goals and 21 assists in 134 games for Brentford (Transfermarkt).

Toney is arguably the best target man striker in the Premier League. The way that he occupies centre-backs is an absolute art, and he’s a superb finisher as well.

I would love the 28-year-old to be the Michail Antonio replacement for West Ham but unfortunately, I just can’t see it happening due to the cost involved in the deal.
