215 touches in opposition box, 9.2 expected assists: Arsenal have a real superstar in the making this season - opinion

Arsenal will be happy with how things are going into the March international break.

The Gunners sit top of the Premier League table on goal difference with just 10 games left to play in the campaign.

In addition, Arsenal are in the quarter-finals of the Champions League after getting the better of a tricky Porto side last time out.

While plenty of Gunners players have impressed this season, it’s been especially good to see how Bukayo Saka continues to go from strength to strength.

Indeed, the 22-year-old currently boasts two Premier League-leading statistics following matchweek 29.

As per Squawka, Saka has had the most touches in the opposition’s box, with a tally of 215. He also has the most expected assists, at 9.2.

The Hale End graduate is also joint-fourth when it comes to the Premier League’s highest goal and assist contributors this season. He’s alongside Darwin Nunez on 31.

And obviously Saka is Arsenal’s highest goalscorer and also their highest assist contributor this season.

Bukayo Saka on course for superstar status at Arsenal

Saka is clearly a player of the highest quality. His stats this season are once again mightily impressive, ranking him among the very best in the division.

At 22 years of age, it remains to be seen just how much better he can become. His ceiling is incredibly high so it’ll be exciting to see.

And considering he has already clocked up over 200 competitive appearances for Arsenal, plus 32 for England, there could well be records broken on those fronts in the coming years.

Saka already is a star, but the way he’s going, it won’t be long before he’s in the truly elite category. A superstar, if you will. Or perhaps unanimously world-class.
