£39.5m Manchester United player responds when asked if he wants Saudi Arabia transfer this summer

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has responded when asked about a potential move to Saudi Arabia this summer.

Big decisions are coming this summer.

Nobody inside Manchester United will feel completely safe ahead of the summer transfer window with Ineos surely bringing major changes.

Fans will be expecting big moves in the transfer market, especially at the back.

Raphael Varane could go, Harry Maguire may not be the long-term answer and more cover for Lisandro Martinez may be needed.

Then there is Victor Lindelof, whose one-year contract option has been activated to prevent him from leaving for nothing this summer.

Victor Lindelof on Saudi Arabia

Maybe Lindelof will see out his contract and leave in 2025 or perhaps United have activated the option with a view to selling the defender.

The 29-year-old has racked up more than 250 appearances for United since joining from Benfica in 2017.

Lindelof seems settled in Manchester and has started 13 Premier League games this season, coming off the bench another five times.

Lindelof’s future is unclear right now and he is currently away on international duty, serving as Sweden captain.

Unsurprisingly, the Swedish media have been asking Lindelof about his future and where he could end up.

When pressed about a potential move to Saudi Arabia – just like Alex Telles and Cristiano Ronaldo – Lindelof wasn’t too enamoured.

Lindelof doesn’t really feel that Saudi Arabia is right for him at the moment and wants to stay in Europe – whether it’s with United or another club.

“I haven’t actually thought about it,” said Lindelof on a move to Saudi Arabia. “Maybe I don’t really feel like I’m there in my career, that I want to get down to moving away. I feel that I want to stay in Europe and play football at that level,” he added whilst speaking to Fotbollskanalen.

How much did Manchester United pay for Lindelof?

United coughed up a hefty £30.7million rising to £39.5million for Lindelof having spotted his potential with Benfica.

Lindelof hasn’t quite lived up to expectations but has still given great service to United over the years.

Any deal to sell Lindelof this summer would come in for a much cheaper price and there have been rumours of European interest.

Juventus and AC Milan were linked earlier this season and United may at least listen to offers for Lindelof.

Saudi Arabia seemingly isn’t in the plans for Lindelof though, at least not for a while.
