Anthony Elanga has now reacted to Nottingham Forest points deduction and he's not impressed

Nottingham Forest have been deducted four points for breaching financial fair play regulations and for the first time, a key player has reacted to the latest news.

The Reds have slipped into the relegation zone on the back of the deduction. Although Forest drew with Luton on Saturday, Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are now below the Hatters in the table.

Anthony Elanga is one player that Forest desperately need to keep fit this season. He has five goals and seven assists to his name and he’s become the first player to react to the news of a points deduction.

Well, this isn’t ideal and it’s somewhat frustrating that four points being deducted has dropped Forest into the drop zone. Three would have kept the Reds above water on goal difference but here we are.

Forest have to get back to winning ways on the pitch sooner rather than later. Now, the grey cloud that has been hanging over the Reds has done and Elanga and his teammates have to get firing.

For the first time since the deduction was announced one Forest player has spoken to the press, with Elanga quizzed on the deduction.

He told the Swedish outletFotbollskanalen: “It’s hard to take. But what can we do? It’s not something we can control. It is the Premier League that does it.

“What we can do is just focus on each game because now we have nine finals. It’s quite messy, it happened with Everton too. But we just have to focus on winning every game.

“We are only one point behind Luton so we can still hang on. I believe in the team, the players, the leaders.”

Time for Elanga and Co to do the talking on the pitch

We’ve heard all of this before. The players believe, they’re backing the manager and they need to fight. Well, now is the time for all of the players to take responsibility and start putting teams to the sword.

Elanga in fairness has been one of the better players that Forest have had this season. He only cost £15 million from Manchester United and he’s more than proved his worth this season.

Fans are growing a little bit frustrated with the empty promises, however. For months, players have given interviews suggesting they’re up for the battle but ultimately the results have been poor.

Elanga will hopefully get some minutes with Sweden in their two friendly fixtures. After that, the hope will be that he returns to Forest ready to fire and keep the team in the Premier League this season.
