Report: Club eye summer swoop for 'excellent' £10k-a-week Wolves ace, after failed approach in January

Wolves fans are hoping for a summer of incoming after seeing Gary O’Neil’s small squad get hit by several injuries this season – but it looks like one player could be heading for the exit.

It’s been a fantastic season so far for Wolves, with O’Neil working wonders despite coming in so late and having a small squad.

Wolves should be able to spend more freely this summer, and supporters are hoping to see O’Neil backed sufficiently by Fosun.

But, as always, it’s possible there will be some outgoings.

Pedro Neto is one player many fans are expecting to depart for big money, with the Portuguese really shining when he’s been fit to play.

But someone else who could depart is Hugo Bueno, with Scottish giants Celtic set to reignite their previous interest…

It was reported by TEAMtalk yesterday that Celtic could potentially go back in for Hugo Bueno this summer.

At the end of the winter transfer window earlier this year, it was claimed that Celtic had made a late approach to Wolves to try and sign Bueno on loan.

A move was never likely to be sanctioned, especially with Jonny Castro Otto having been banished from the first-team. The Spaniard would later leave to join PAOK.

But Celtic are ready to try their luck again in the summer.

TEAMtalk say that a move to the Scottish giants is still very much possible for Bueno, who has struggled for minutes this season despite the squad being small.

That has been mainly down to the amazing form of Rayan Ait-Nouri, who has been going from strength to strength at Molineux.

At times, O’Neil has also turned to Matt Doherty at left wing-back.

Bueno may push for loan move

It will be very interesting to see what happens with Bueno this summer, because he is one of few players in the Wolves squad who hasn’t particularly improved under O’Neil.

The £10,000-a-week man had an injury earlier in the season, but the form of Ait-Nouri has kept him out of the team, and it’s been tricky for him.

Last season Bueno – previously dubbed ‘excellent’ by Matt Hobbs – broke through to the first-team and was one of the shining lights in a difficult season, and he has probably been a tad frustrated not to have kicked on from last term.

Perhaps if there isn’t a decent increase in his minutes between now and the end of the season, he may consider asking about a loan move.
